Welcome to Apalis Nature

People. Planet. Profit.

Kenya’s Coast is endowed with an outstanding diversity of flora and fauna, ranging from rainforest, woodlands, grasslands and mangrove forests to coral reefs, seagrasses and key bird, wildlife and marine species.

In recent decades, these magnificent coastal and marine ecosystems have experienced extensive degradation and biodiversity loss due to a number of factors, including climate change and unsustainable land use and natural resources exploitation.

Apalis Nature is a climate change and biodiversity conservation advisory based in Coastal Kenya, committed to restoring and protecting these crucial ecosystems by helping reconcile the 3Ps: Planet, People and Profit.

01. Why a key focus on coastal ecosystems?
The coastal ecosystem provides numerous benefits, including protection from storms and sea level rising, a home for marine species, an important fisheries habitat for food security and livelihoods, and enhances the sequestering and storing of blue carbon from the atmosphere and oceans. The ecosystem, therefore, play a significant role in international and national biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.
02. What is blue carbon?
Blue carbon is the carbon stored in coastal and marine ecosystems, which when protected sequester and store large quantities of blue carbon. However, when degraded, these ecosystems emit the carbon they have stored for centuries into the atmosphere and oceans, becoming immense emitters of greenhouse gases.
03. How can companies manage their carbon footprint?
When companies exceed the amount of carbon they ought to release annually, they can help offset this by buying carbon credits from carbon offset projects to remove a specific amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Apalis Nature solutions are rehabilitating ecosystems in Coastal Kenya hence enhancing the collection and storage of carbon from the atmosphere. This is providing corporates across the globe reliable projects from which they can buy carbon credits and together help reduce the global carbon emissions.
