2. About the Role

Apalis Nature Ltd is seeking to hire a Project Monitoring Assistant who will support the design and implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning system, data management, and reporting.

3. Duties and Responsibilities

  1. As the Project Monitoring Assistant, you will work closely with the project team to collect, organize, and analyze project field data on socio-economics, biodiversity, and carbon stocks.
  2. Track project indicators and develop monitoring reports including project specific and organizational specific reports in accordance with different reporting standards.
  3. Support the project team in the training of the Field Assistants on data collection or M&E practices.
  4. Assist in developing and implementing project monitoring plans (PMPs) and M&E frameworks.
  5. Maintain organizational data repository and conduct regular data cleaning and validation exercises to ensure data quality.
  6. Responsible for data collection equipment and tools.
  7. Support third-party validation and verification audits.
  8. Support the integration of the project M&E data with GIS.
  9. Document project results, success stories, and lessons learned for communication and learning purposes.
  10. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager/Management.

The Project Monitoring Assistant will support the design and implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning system, data management, and reporting.

4. Academic Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Studies, Rangeland Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Ecology, or conservation-related subject preferred, with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role. 

5. Professional Experience

  1. A basic understanding of GIS will be a plus
  2. Ability to plan, coordinate, and engage in field operations
  3. Ability to work and thrive in a team
  4. Excellent computer knowledge/skills
  5. Has previous experience in conducting monitoring activities for carbon accounting, ecological, or socio-economic studies
  6. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, GIS, SPSS, and R software.
  7. Basic knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies/standards

6. Additional Requirements

Must have the ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in a challenging field environment.
